Power Washing Can Be A Huge Mistake!

Many of the construction materials in your home are subject to damage when improperly cleaned. Your cleaning contractor should have several tools and products in order to meet most circumstances. Chemicals must be safe for your house and the environment. There is no substitute for experience, knowledge, full insurance and year-round availability.

Here are some specific points for you to consider:

Decks (pressure treated or composites): Bleach and other chlorinated chemicals are unsafe for your household, the environment and even the deck itself! The wood may become splintered, dried out and not deeply cleaned. High pressure cannot take the place of a deep cleansing product that attacks the destructive mold and mildew.   High power looks o.k. at first, but Low Pressure is preferred! – followed by the application of a high quality sealer or stain.

Roofs: Once again, high-pressure water can be damaging to shingles and lead to spotty results. Chemicals must be properly selected and uniformly applied. Besides the removal of black streaks, your roof should look brighter. Safe work practices are a must!

Siding and gutters: Some areas simply won't come clean with a pressure washer alone – particularly stucco, porous materials and most certainly gutters. A number of tools and products should be available, if needed.
